We manufacture premium paperboard from fresh wood fibres to meet the demands of high-end packaging. After use, our boards are very well suited for recycling.
Holmen Iggesund’s paperboards are made from fresh wood fibres. The wood is harvested in forests certified for their sustainable forest management according to FSC® and PEFC. We use the trees resource-efficiently to avoid anything going to waste.
The big stems of the trees form the raw material for construction timber used for houses and other wood products, which continues to store carbon throughout the product’s life. The leftover wood parts from the forest management or the sawmills are turned into pulp to produce paper and paperboard. The top of the tree and the branches are used for renewable bioenergy.
We turn the leftovers into paperboard predominantly used for packaging purposes. The packaging protects the packaged goods throughout the journey from producer to consumer, reducing potential losses. When the packaging has served its purpose, it becomes a valuable input to the world’s recycling systems. After several cycles, when the fibres have lost most of their properties, they can be incinerated and turned into fossil-free energy.
