Our community efforts focus largely on supporting integration, diversity, gender equality and young people. Among those we sponsor in Sweden are Hey Activity, which focuses on creating meaningful leisure time for children and young people in our municipality, and The Glada Hudik Theatre, a theatre group of people with intellectual disabilities working internationally and nationally to reduce prejudice. We also have a long-standing commitment to the IGE Day (Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day) to encourage more young women to select engineering as a profession.

It’s in our DNA
Contributing to the surrounding communities comes naturally to us, stemming back some 300 years to when the mill in Iggesund was at the heart of the old industrial town. Things have changed since then, but the mill still play a key role in maintaining healthy and vibrant communities.
We strive to engage people both within and outside the company, for example, by promoting nonprofit organisations and activities in the region to make it an attractive place to live and work.
Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships also contribute to strengthening our brand and raising awareness of our products, services, and Holmen as an employer.
Holmen was among the best employers in the 2022 “Sweden’s Best Employer” report. The report is based on a survey measuring employer brands internally.

Local activities in Workington
Among other efforts, our Workington Mill is active in the local community, for example, through Gen2. Holmen Iggesund founded this training provider in partnership with other large regional employers to strengthen local job training schemes and provide apprenticeships. The Workington Mill sponsors charitable causes in the region and provides some nearby towns and villages with annual Christmas trees.
