The folding box board made in Workington is constructed in several plies and is a combination of chemically and mechanically produced pulp. The chemical pulp is purchased from other producers, whist Workington produces the mechanical pulp. This basically involves grinding up the timber, which results in a pulp that adds stiffness and thickness to the paperboard.
