Folding Box Board

Incada is a multi-layered product (folding box board, FBB) entirely based on fresh fibres. Specific fibre compositions are used for the various layers in the construction to optimise performance. The outer layers consist of bleached chemical sulphate pulp and the middle layers of mechanically separated fibres (RMP-pulp). The coating composition is adjusted in different general directions for the product family to satisfy printability requirements.

Product description

Incada Silk is a fully coated white backed folding box board (FBB) designed for quality packaging and graphic design applications. It delivers excellent results in both solid print and half-tone illustrations. The reverse side is single coated with a matt finish. This primary fibre paperboard meets the requirements for high performance in quality printing and varnishing. The ink setting and drying properties ensure good runnability in high-speed offset litho processes. Incada Silk also works well in most digital printing presses on the market today and is suitable for digital finishing technology.

Sheet grain direction

Grain results from the fact that fibers flowing onto the paper machine wire align themselves predominantly in the direction of their flow and the moving wire. The direction that is parallel to the flow of fibers on the wire is called the Machine Direction (MD). Direction perpendicular to the machine direction, or across the paper machine wire, is called the Cross Machine Direction (CD). Grain direction is called long-grain (or grain-long) when the longer sheet dimension is the same as, or parallel to, the machine direction. Shortgrain paperboard has its shorter sheet dimension parallel to machine direction. A diagram of each is below:
