Climate change is the biggest challenge of our time. How we tackle this crisis will determine the future of our planet. Climate change requires real change. Companies and brands across industries have committed to ambitious targets that challenge business models and require a shift to sustainable solutions. We believe that Holmen Iggesund has an important role to play in this transition.
Deep roots in the swedish forest
Our business has deep roots in both history and the forest. In 1685 the Queen of Sweden entrusted us to use local waters and forests. Even if our business has changed with time, we still base it on the same two main pillars as our predecessors did – wood and water. Wood coming from nearby forests, providing raw material for our paperboard and energy to power our production. And water from nearby lakes and rivers, giving us freshwater to use and renewable energy from hydroelectric powerplants.
As part of the Holmen Group our business model is circular. The forest ecocycle gives us our wood, which is refined and made into products, products our customers can then refine in their turn. As the lifecycle draws to a close, the products can be recycled and come back to life in a new form, or be useful as biofuel.
Purposeful is key
But sustainability is not only about our business, our mills and our paperboard products. We want to be part of the bigger picture by offering purposeful solutions that have a positive impact. By working together with partners and customers we can use the power of our collective knowledge and create solutions that add real value — for the end consumer, for the business and for the planet.
