Climate impact

Understand the climate impact of paperboard and how Holmen promotes environmental responsibility through paperboard solutions.

Climate change requires real change

Climate change is the biggest challenge of our time.

How we tackle this crisis will determine the future of our planet. Companies and brands across industries have committed to ambitious targets that challenge business models and require a shift to sustainable solutions, where recyclable packaging solutions and materials play an important role.

Holmen is actively working to mitigate climate change in a number of ways:

  • Our production is based on renewable raw materials
  • Our products are recyclable and can be used to substitute materials with a higher fossil carbon content
  • Our production is fueled by non-fossil energy to more than 95 percent
  • Our target is fossil free mills by 2030 and fossil free products by 2035
  • Our target in achieving a sustainable supply chain involves fossil free chemicals and transports
  • As part of the Holmen Group, our contribution to a fossil free society also lies in the direct supply of renewable energy from hydro and wind power
