Watch them grow
2015 Iggesund Paperboard launched the Adopt a Tree initiative in which the company plants 10 trees for each person who takes part in the programme. The planting is done in an area in northern Sweden not far from the village of Iggesund, the company’s historical birthplace and location of its Swedish paperboard mill.
There is a solar-powered webcam in the area and the image shows the rows of planted trees in the foreground. The camera is out in the forest with no mains power supply and therefore runs on solar cells. The image does not change frequently and can sometimes be completely dysfunctional because the energy supply is unreliable during the Swedish winter – at the beginning of December the sun is only up for six hours a day and the temperatures can fall to -25° C or -14° F.
