On the last day of May the doors open to one of the world’s biggest events in printed media and packaging when the eleven-day-long trade fair Drupa is held in Düsseldorf. We’ve found out more from Robert Bryngelsson, the project manager for Iggesund’s participation.
With only a few days left until the fair opens, preparations are in full swing. From 31 May to 10 June inclusive, the presses will be working in overdrive with Iggesund’s paperboard at Messe Düsseldorf. Iggesund is taking part in the fair in partnership with several major players in printing and finishing.
“We’ll be at the HP Indigo stand, which is the biggest stand of the entire fair,” Bryngelsson says. “There visitors can see paperboard in action and inspect and feel paperboard samples. Our paperboard will also be used by a number of printing press manufacturers such as Komori, Xeikon, Manroland Sheetfed, Xerox and Konica Minolta. If you’re interested in how Invercote and Incada perform with various finishing techniques, then check out the stands of Highcon, IST Metz, KAMA, Steinemann and LasX. Or go and see the fabulous varnishes and pigments at Schmid Rhyner and Merck.”
What’s the atmosphere at Drupa usually like?
“Drupa is where the absolute cutting-edge technology is on show, so you definitely get a sense of looking into the future. There’s masses of enthusiasm and inspiration!”
What are you looking forward to at this year’s fair?
“For example, how brand owners and printing and packaging suppliers are working together to create tomorrow’s premium packaging. And how companies can exploit the potential of various technological platforms to add even more value throughout the whole production process right up to the consumers’ experience of the brand.”
What mustn’t be missed?
“There’s so much to see – I don’t know where to start. There’s a lot of focus on digital technology but a lot is also going on in other areas. And of course people mustn’t forget the material that’s being printed on!”
