Core values

The Group's strategic HR vision is that Holmen shall be a company distinguished by employees who, with courage, commitment and responsibility, perform at their best. Also, we believe that when our people are involved in and proud of Holmen, they are engaged in personal continued development and that of the company.

The combination of management by objectives and values-driven leadership is key in our leadership criteria. We believe that all employees have a contribution to make and want to take responsibility, as long as they are given the right conditions to do so in their work day-to-day. In this respect, it is important that managers are clear about the expectations, and employ Holmen’s core values to inform behavior and decisions. Combining management by objectives with values-driven leadership creates commitment and opportunities for the team to meet, and even exceed expectations.

Holmen's shared values are courage, commitment and responsibility.

Courage to act. Holmen's employees are action oriented and make decisions that lead to tangible results. The company rewards innovative thinking that leads to improvements and solves challenges. The Group believes in transparency internally within the company and with the surrounding community.

Commitment that is long term and sustainable. Holmen's employees work across boundaries and exploit skills, ideas and synergies. Holmen acts with clarity so that each employee understands what is required and expected. Everyone in the Group shows respect for each other and the world around us, and gives each other feedback in an approachable and constructive way.

Responsibility based on sensitivity and skills. Holmen's employees create participation by involving each other, sharing ideas and providing opportunities to exercise influence. Holmen takes action at an early stage and demonstrates drive when tackling challenges from the environment in which we operate and is proactive about improvement. Holmen's employees are professional in the way in which we run and develop our operations and we foster sustainable relationships with customers, stakeholders, colleagues and the surrounding community.

Courage according to Rickard Österlindh

Courage: It’s a choice and willingness to go beyond and challenge old habits, barriers and to make decisions venturing in new
directions, even if you know it will be difficult and challenging.

Commitment according to Jonny Lowe

Commitment: In the long term, you have to believe in what you’re doing to be really committed.  It’s quite easy to talk about what we plan to do, but making plans happen relies a lot on believing in them and then committing to them.

Responsibility according to Lena Elserth

Responsibility: Doing your job as well as you can, but speaking up and asking for help from others if you are out of your depth in a specific situation.

Code of Conduct

Holmen’s Code of Conduct clarifies and emphasises the requirements and expectations on Holmen employees.

The Code applies to all employees of the Holmen Group and we encourage our business partners to act in line with this code and we take this into account when choosing who we work with.

The Code of Conduct provides guidance in day-to-day work, clarifying what each employee can expect of their colleagues regarding business ethics & handling information, human rights & labour rights and environment.

Social responsibility

Our personnel policy is aimed at developing employeeship, leadership and organisation. Activities in this area are based on laws, collective agreements and Group-wide policies and guidelines.
