Being part of society

We acknowledge our role in society, as an employer, business partner and tax paying corporation operating industrial facilities. With operations in small communities we have significant impact on the local society, not least as a major provider of job opportunities. Our long term approach and sustainable profit level provide the foundation for continuing to be a responsible part of society also in the future.

Lena and Pelle at Iggesund mill

Being based in Sweden and the UK, we have high standards of employee care to meet as laid out in labour laws and collective agreements in both countries. We also support the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, the eight fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organization and OECD’s guidelines for multinational companies.

Our Code of Conduct is based on these principles and clarifies and emphasises the expectations on employee behaviour in day-to-day activities. Breaches of the Code of Conduct can be reported by employees or other stakeholders through a whistleblower function.

Local makes a difference

What does a big industrial plant really mean to its local community and environment? It’s easy to list employee numbers, production volumes, emissions, energy consumption and shipments going in and out. It’s more difficult to describe what such a facility means on other levels and how it influences local life in ways both large and small.

Code of Conduct

Holmen’s Code of Conduct clarifies and emphasises the requirements and expectations on Holmen employees.

The Code applies to all employees of the Holmen Group and we encourage our business partners to act in line with this code and we take this into account when choosing who we work with.

The Code of Conduct provides guidance in day-to-day work, clarifying what each employee can expect of their colleagues regarding business ethics & handling information, human rights & labour rights and environment.
