The Iron Anchor

The Iggesund mill, Iggesunds Bruk, started out as an iron mill, built by the French merchant Isak Breant in 1685. Breant chose a crowned iron anchor to represent his business, and the same symbol lives on today in our logotype. The old building that once housed the iron works is now a museum, a beautifully preserved part of our cultural heritage.

An Inspiring Trip...

Sweden’s first combined sulphite and sulphate plant, built in Iggesund in 1915, manufactured pulp for the open market. In the early 60’s, company president Lars G Sundblad visited America and was inspired by how consumer goods were packaged and presented in supermarkets, something that was not done in Sweden at the time. He returned home full of new ideas that formed the base for the new Iggesund Paperboard.

...Becomes a Global Enterprise

Iggesund’s first paperboard machine was commissioned in 1963. Business was so successful that a second machine was custom-built in 1971. Today Iggesund Paperboard has a network of production units, sales offices, distribution centres and technical and product support around the world, as well as partners in local paperboard merchants. In certain countries we also operate through agents.
